The Andrews Labor Government has confirmed the first group of successful recipients of its $20 million New Energy Jobs Fund grants.

Member for Bendigo West, Maree Edwards MP, today announced that Mount Alexander Sustainability Group will receive $100,000 to funda waste to energy project.

This project will explore the feasibility of a waste to energy (bio-energy) plant. The study will explore various industrial and agricultural feed stocks and also municipal waste streams. They will also review the various anaerobic bio-digester technologies and processes available to generate heat and gas for local use and export to the grid.

This project will develop a Business Case for an integrated community waste to energy solution that will utilise the most suitable and commercially viable configuration and integration of technologies.

This is one of 24 grants which will be announced in the coming months, with Mount Alexander Sustainability Group obtaining funding under the Community Business Case category.

The Labor Government received a strong response to the $20 million New Energy Jobs Fund with applicants providing innovative ideas for projects that support a clean energy future and help position Victoria as a leader in new energy technologies.

The fund is a key component of our $200 million Future Industries Fund to support high growth, high value industries, such as the new energy technologies sector that are critical to securing Victoria’s future as a competitive, innovative and outward looking economy.
